The Cabinet Project<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

a multisite project\u00a0by <\/em><\/strong>the ArtSci Salon collective<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

We are delighted\u00a0to launch\u00a0The Cabinet Project,\u00a0<\/em>a distributed exhibition featuring 11 arts installations at the intersection of Arts and Science, which will be mounted by 13 artists in abandoned or underutilized cabinets\u00a0across the University of Toronto (St. George Campus).<\/p>\n

With this project, we wish\u00a0to emphasize the rich ecologies formed by science, its scientific spaces, its labs, and its instruments.\u00a0Through processes of collaborations with the sciences and their protagonists, we believe that the arts\u00a0have a crucial role in revealing, communicating, and even realizing\u00a0these ecologies. As well, we wish to\u00a0show the\u00a0connection of scientific objects and institutional spaces with\u00a0the social and urban fabric of the city.<\/p>\n

During the past few months, the artists involved in this project have been interacting with a variety of scientific objects from the University of Toronto Scientific Instrument Collection (UTSIC)<\/a>\u00a0and have engaged with the disciplines of microbiology, mathematics, geometry, microscopy, physics and public health.<\/p>\n
