DESCRIPTION
During this workshop, we will work together on, and test a new game. Come play with us!
Mater Virus (Mother virus) is an ontological workshop-game where the public finds their more intimate specificities – baldness, communication ability, and disease susceptibilities – what makes us unique is being an inheritance from viruses at a different time in our history.
We are one family; parenthood is written in our DNA. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we fought against viruses. But DNA sequencing unveiled new knowledge about our deep relationships with them. It is time for reconciliation.
Participants will not only learn about sequencing, SNPs, retroviruses, and evolution, but they will also “be ”
viruses and be conscious that our body is also territory and identity. They will connect to the performativity of biology. The information is brought to bodies to generate reflection through play, acquiring knowledge, and scientific awareness.
Mater Virus is a workshop-game. For us, its “board/laboratory” is the entire world. Then, the equipment is portable, DIY, and local. It is a happy symbiosis of several disciplines, but logistically, as with any game, it has a large performative component.
Each session of this workshop-game could last a minimum of one hour and a maximum of two hours. We require a minimum of 1 participant at a time and up to 20. All types of participants are invited.
VirHumans, let the reconciliation games start!
